I hope everyone had a lovely Easter break. For once, the weather cooperated (minus today’s weather) to allow us to enjoy the weekend. My family was out from Edmonton and we went on several walks and even managed to do some geocaching along the Sumas river!

It is another short week and there are a few notes to share:

1. Book Character Day: Weds is book character day. Your child can dress up as their favourite book character! If your child does not want to participate, they can come wearing their normal uniform.
2. After School Programs: As our  after school programs continue, we have noticed that many siblings of students involved are also staying at school while waiting for parents to pick them up. We understand that parents often do not want to make multiple trips to the school. However, parents should be aware that after 3:25 there is no supervision available outside on the playground and in any of the other areas of the school. If an accident happens or an incident occurs, staff members may not be available to help. For student safety, we would encourage parents to tell siblings to stay inside the gym along the walls and wait there or in the front foyer until parents arrive. Alternatively, carpooling may be available so siblings do not have to wait at the school. Thank you for your consideration.
3. Memory Verse: As it is a short week, I will be hearing the full John 3:16 verse tomorrow. There will be no other memory verse for the week.
4. Gym: Students are now changing once again for gym. If your child still has their uniform at home, please send it to school so they can change for gym.
5. Track and Field: On May 5, all students in Grades 4-6 will be participating in the – once again- annual track and field day at Bear Creek Park in Surrey. A permission form should be coming home today.
6. Music of the Week: Jack Johnson’s Curious George soundtrack. You don’t hear much about Jack Johnson anymore but he was quite big a number of years ago and his easy going surfer style sound could be heard everywhere. This week’s album is the soundtrack to the Curious George soundtrack.
