Snapshots from our day:

Snapshots from our day:

As the students sat down this morning I could tell it was going to be a good day!  They went straight to work on their regular math drill with focus and determination.  From there, the day kept getting better:

  • Math Drill (practicing math skills)
  • Math Quiz (completed the graphing unit)
  • Candy Math (some fun to mark the start of our Probability Unit)
  • Where in the World is Mrs. Waffenschmidt?  I have no idea!  (Rather then our usual lesson we took time to learn about an exciting cultural celebration.)
  • The grade 4 class joined a few of our students in celebrating the Chinese New Year! Thank you to our classmate who taught us how to say Happy New Year “恭贺新禧 /Gōnghèxīnx!”
  • Arctic Games (students practiced endurance games today like the Knuckle Hop, The Airplane, and The Back Push.  While our class demonstrated they might not be prepared to crawl across the sea ice in search of prey while hunting, they did demonstrate wonderful strength of spirit and sportsmanship as they encouraged each other in each event!)
  • Inuit Shelters were the topic of study today in Social Studies.  Students learned a little about sod houses, tents and mainly igloos.  After completing their assignment we built model igloos.  I hope they made it home and the students were able to share what they learned about these remarkable structures.

Thanks for a great day grade 4.  See you next week!
