Highroad Knights Day Monday
Monday will be Highroad Knights day as we once again encourage our Sports teams with Highroad Spirit.
Students are allowed to wear causal clothes with Highroad wear including hoodies and shirts. If you have not purchased any of the Highroad merchandise to wear yet or would rather not participate, students are still to wear their normal school uniform.
On the top of school uniforms, some students are missing items from their gym kit, including shorts. We also have some missing cardigans. This past full dress Wednesday, I noticed a few students who had either forgotten or had misplaced their cardigans. Would you please check with your child and see if there is anything they are missing?
On an entirely different topic but somewhat related to Highroad Knights, the image I found for today’s post comes from the Bayeaux Tapestry; one of the oldest living documents detailing the Norman’s Conquest of England at the Battle of Hastings. It is actually an embroidered cloth over 70m long. It is over 9 centuries old and is still in fantastic shape. These are days when real Knights walked the earth fighting battles in real life armour. It is an amazing piece of history and has given us an important source of information on knights.
Here is an animated version you can see which shows and explains some of the images that were sewed into the cloth:
You can even create your own pictures just like the ones on the Tapestry at this site!
