May is Full of Spring Happenings!

May is Full of Spring Happenings!

It’s going to be a busy month as June approaches faster than a freight train. We have lots of events and learning planned for May and lots of those things are happening this week! Here’s a rundown for the week:

  • Track and Field:

Track and field is one of the highlights of the Intermediate year and we are excited to once again travel to Bear Creek Park, Surrey to participate in this event. The track meet is coming up on May 5 and the weather that day is supposed to be fabulous (if the weather reports are to be believed!).

The meet will be a fun-filled day of competition and excitement. Your child will have the chance to run against other kids their age in various events such as the 100 meter dash, long jump, ball throw, high jump, and the 400m. They will also have an opportunity to cheer on their teammates as they compete in these events.

As all Intermediate students are going, our buses/shuttles are going to be extremely full. If there is possibility that you can drive your own child, I would appreciate it if you could let me know as soon as possible even if you had already signed up for your child to go on the bus. We are also looking for volunteers for the day. Volunteers would be at our table handing out ribbons to students as they finish events. It’s a very easy job.

The bus will be leaving at 7:00am in order to get there on time 7:00am and returning at approx. 3:45pm. It looks like it might potentially be a very rainy day, so rain gear and umbrellas will be important. Students will need a full lunch and snacks. There will not be a concession on site.

Thanks for your help! It should be a fun day!

  • Memory Verse: I will be hearing our memory verse for last week tomorrow. We were doing John 3:17 – For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
  • Memory verse for next week – Due Monday: If any of you lacks wisdom you should ask God, who gives it generously to all without fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5
  • Star Wars/Superhero Day: is Wednesday. Students can come dressed up as their favourite superhero or Star Wars character. Made-up superheros are certainly welcome! Students not wanting to participate can come in their normal uniforms!
