It has certainly been an interesting year navigating school amidst all the restrictions and regulations we have had to implement this year.

One area that has necessitated one of the most widespread changes has been in how we conduct our drop-off and pick-up schedule and procedures. We have seen a steady increase in the numbers of students being dropped off earlier and earlier. Mr. Morris has sent home an email a few days ago reminding parents to try and drop children off as close to 8:45 as possible. This is important for a couple of reasons. First of all, we don’t have the supervision available to watch the increasing numbers of students arriving in the morning. Secondly, on rainy days, students are required to remain sequestered in their cohorts within defined areas of the gym. With large numbers of students, this has become very difficult to manage. It would be very appreciated if students could try and arrive closer to the 8:45 time period to help us out.

After school has not been as big of an issue for the elementary. We so appreciate parents arriving as quickly as possible at the end of school so students are not hanging out with students from other cohorts. Just a friendly reminder that as you are picking up your child and perhaps touching base with other parents, that you are maintaining the appropriate distance from others as per the BC Covid guidelines. We have also been hearing about students going to other homes for playdates and would like to also remind families about the BC Covid guidelines as it pertains to visiting outside of immediate family.

We know that this has been a hard struggle and we certainly appreciate all your support and help. It has been wonderful to be able to have students at school and see their bright, happy faces.
