Home Reading

It is important that students realize that reading is not just for school; that it is an activity that has benefits for all parts of their lives. Reading, as an everyday activity, builds creativity, knowledge, comprehension and  an understanding of the world around them. However, just like any activity, reading needs to be practiced and practiced continuously to improve and grow.

To encourage and help your child’s reading at home, the Grade 4/5 is doing a home reading program. For this program, students read at home, record the amount of time they read and the books they finished reading. When students bring their planners back, we total up the books for class prizes. There are also ways for you to celebrate reading at home!

The directions included detail what to do, how to use the reading log and how to track your child’s reading at home with the included templates. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!
