New Report Cards

New Report Cards

For the 2017 school year, the elementary department will be transitioning to a new report card format.
While the intermediate has been using an online gradebook for a number of years, changes within the primary allowed us an opportunity to move to a standardized reporting program integrated with the province-wide system. This allows our departments to do all our reporting (attendance, grades, report cards) in one space.
However, this move means that we have needed to change our report cards. In December, when our first term reports go home, you will notice a completely different look. The new report cards will allow us to provide a more detailed look at the concept and competencies completed for each subject.
Another change you may notice is the letter grade breakdown. While the primary grades will still be based on a performance scale, the intermediate letter grades system will be broken into the following scale:
A 86 – 100 = Excellent or Outstanding Performance in relation to learning outcomes.
B 73 – 85 = Very Good Performance in relation to learning outcomes.
C+ 67 – 72 = Good Performance in relation to learning outcomes.
C 60 – 66 = Satisfactory Performance in relation to learning outcomes.
C- 50 – 59 = Minimally Acceptable Performance in relation to learning outcomes
I 0 – 49 = No demonstration of minimally acceptance performance in relation to learning outcomes in this reporting period.
We are anticipating that the roll-out of the new report card format will be smooth. However, if there are technical issues, we may need to delay the report cards. We will send out more information if this occurs.
We hope that the new report cards will provide a more comprehensive view of your child’s progress. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mr. Hancock or Ms. Evans.
