Spring Sing Information

Spring Sing Information

What: Highroad Academy Spring Sing
When: May 30th, 2016 at 7 PM
Students may wear their Highroad Knights shirts, red or black. If they do not have a Highroad t-shirt they may wear either their uniform shirt or a PLAIN black shirt. They may wear jeans or pants without rips or tears and no shorts. Any shoe is fine.
We will be taking a love offering for Nathan and Melanie Loewen. Nathan has been a teacher here at Highroad for the past 11 years and his children attend our elementary school. This summer he and his wife and family are moving to Indonesia! While in Indonesia, they will be teaching at an international school and learning the culture and language. Their family will be in a Muslim nation sharing the love of Jesus to those around them.

Star Size Comparison

Star Size Comparison

We are in the middle of an experiment right involving tomatoes and space. Now, I know you are probably wondering what the two have in common. The Canadian Space Agency is involving schools in an experiment to test whether or not it is possible for plants to grow food in space – in zero gravity environments. This is the only way we are going to get astronauts to places like Mars as there is not enough space to carry the amount of food needed to reach there and back without being able to grow our own food.

As part of the experiment, we are growing two types of seeds; seeds that have been in space and thus have been exposed to zero gravity and ordinary seeds. However, we do not know which ones are which as the Agency does not the results to be biased.

In our discussions about growing plants in space as a way to get to Mars without starving we came across the video that gives a sense of the size comparison of planets and stars that I thought everyone would enjoy.

The memory verse for this week is 1 Corinthians 13:5 (I think I accidentally put the number 6 on the planner copy)

It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
