Our Habitats

Our Habitats

Well,

It’s been a busy week in Science. If you have not already heard, last Tuesday we built habitats from the pop bottles the children brought in. Our habitats have been both successful and challenging. The challenging part was putting the bottles together so that we could actually fill them without the bottles leaking. Once they stopped leaking, we were able to put fish and snails inside but it was a little touch and go and it has been hard to see the fish through the tape. We also planted alfalfa on the top and that seems to be very successful so far with all seeds having sprouted over the weekend. Unfortunately, we have had one fish die on us. However, as I had expected all of them to be dead when I came in on Monday, we felt quite successful in seeing that most were actually still alive.

Tomorrow, we are going to add worms to our soil after observing the worms and doing a simple experiment with them. We’ve have been learning lots about habitats, especially in how delicate the habitat is and how hard it is to keep all the needs of the habitat balanced. We have ultimately been learning how amazing God’s creation is and how perfectly he created it for us.

Please keep our fish in your prayers as I am hoping they will last a long time!
