Important! Christmas Crafts This Morning!

Important! Christmas Crafts This Morning!

Good Morning! Due to a scheduling conflict, and an apparently faulty memory belonging to yours truly, we will not be doing crafts this morning. In scheduling out the week in crafts and other things going on, I had completely forgotten about our Christmas Chapel happening this morning. We will still be doing crafts tomorrow morning.

For the parents who were going to be helping us this morning, I am so sorry about the change in plans. If you are able to join us tomorrow, that would be wonderful.

Thank you and again, sorry for the change in plans.

Mr. Hancock

Notes For Thursday

Notes For Thursday

Well, we’re getting down to the end of things here. The students have been doing a great job this week, even with all the excitement. They have been doing a wonderful job on their crafts, which are looking very good. The students did a fabulous job at the concert with some great singing, hard work and patience. It was such a pleasure and honour watching all your incredible children do such an amazing job.

Thursday will be our last full day of school. In the morning, we will be finishing our crafts and other stuff as well as discovering what it is lurking in the depths in the backs of their desks and lockers (oh, the horrors!). In the afternoon, we will be having a Christmas party to celebrate the obtaining of 50 stars. Mrs. Froyland will also be with us for the day.

For the party, I am asking the students to donate some type of food item. This can include chips, cookies and other sweets as well as fruit, vegetable plates and cheese plates if families are willing to do that. I will provide the drinks for the students. Unless the food is perishable, you can bring items starting tomorrow if you like.

If I don’t get a chance later, my family and I would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May God bless your family and bring you happiness and joy at this time and all through the coming year!

Christmas Concert Tomorrow Night!

Christmas Concert Tomorrow Night!

With Christmas coming up fast, it’s time for the annual Christmas Concert for the Grade 4-12’s. As you know already, tomorrow night is the big night and the children have been working very hard to get ready. It should be a wonderful night with great music to celebrate the real reason for the season.

This year the grade 4 class is a gang of pirates, however, Mrs. Mackie does not expect students to have costumes unless you have some pirate-y things lying around.  They may be dressed in dark or black jeans (or the Highroad pants) and some sort of dark or black shirt (their black Highroad Knights shirts are fine). Students may also wear full dress uniforms in lieu.

Your student will need to be in their classroom by 6:45 so that they can line up with the rest of their class.  They will be sitting as a class throughout the concert, and you can collect them from their reserved seats when the concert is over.  Thank you so much for your support and encouragement!  For any questions or concerns you can email Mrs. Mackie at hmackie@highroadacademy.com.

Memory Verse and Christmas Crafts

Memory Verse and Christmas Crafts

Students should now have their memory verses glued in their planners. Sorry for the delay on that. I had forgotten on Monday and then I was away from the class yesterday. So memory verses will not be due until next Wednesday!

During the last week of school before Christmas vacation, I like to do Christmas crafts with the students in the mornings from 9:15 – 10:15. If you are interested in helping out with crafts and joining us for some Christmas music and fun, please let me know as well as when you would be available to help. If you can come everyday, that’s wonderful or if you can only come one or two of the days that would be fine as well. Let me know and I will start building my schedule. We will be running crafts from 9:15 to 10:15, Monday to Thursday during that last week.

Uniforms for Tomorrow

Uniforms for Tomorrow

Due to the colder temperatures tomorrow, students (ladies especially) will not be required to wear full dress uniforms and may wear the standard uniform pants. Also with the colder temperatures, please make sure that your child is coming dress appropriately. While it is cold, children will still be expected to go outside for recesses.

A Couple of Items

A Couple of Items

I wanted to make you aware of a couple of items for this week plus show a cool video.

I have sent home review pages for the Science Test which will be next week on Tuesday. I have also added it below just in case. However, the “jar” won’t have the drawing I did to go with it. The description below it will tell what the jar is supposed to look like. All the test questions will be from the review pages.

Science Review

Students do not have spelling this week but will be getting a memory verse which will be due on Monday.

Just a reminder that Friday is a P.D. day which means no school for students.

We are also starting our annual Salvation Army food drive. So start bringing your cans and other items (no perishables please!). The intermediate class with the most donations gets a pizza party!!!!

We saw cool video this morning of an amazing vocal group singing a Christmas song with a very unique twist.
