A Visit from the RCMP and a New Poll!

The first Friday of February. It’s amazing how fast the days go by!

We had an exciting day today. We had a special visit from the RCMP. No, none of the students was arrested. Constable Wright was here to talk about stranger safety. We had a very good discussion. One of the main things to come up was whether or the students knew their home address and phone number in case they needed to tell someone like a police officer. As parents, you might like to discuss with your child whether or not they know this information and, if they don’t, work on memorizing it in case of emergencies.

PoliceConst. Wright also went over the rules of dealing with stranger. Go over these with your child to help reinforce this important information. When they get home they should be able to tell you what the three rules of dealing with strangers are and the three words they can use if a stranger is trying to interfere with them.

This brings us to our new poll which can be found on the bottom right. Has a stranger ever scared you by trying to take you away or asking you if you want to help them in some way but who really just wanted to hurt you?It would be interesting to see how often this sort of thing happens. If you want to tell us the story or clarify why you chose yes or no, you can add a comment to the bottom of this entry. What did you do or what do you think is the best way to deal with a stranger?

(P.S. The winner of the last poll was country music.)
